What Not To Say To A Widow - part 2

About Me

A little About Me:

On the 5th February, 2011, I became a 30 year old single mum and widow, when my husband of 6 years passed away from pancreatic cancer. This was not how I thought my life would turn out, but I have embraced the change and the challenges that came with it including, finding love again and re-marrying my childhood sweetheart.

My name is Michela and this blog is dedicated to my late husband Nick, my life lessons in becoming a widow, keeping my humour, navigating friendships and all the while, discovering what I enjoy in life again, including my love of nail polish, hence the ‘Polished’ in the title!

  2. Hello –
I happened to come across your blog as I was researching ascites for an assignment in my nursing class. I couldn’t help but to take a moment to read why such a young man had developed ascites. Your story is so touching and I hope you and your family are doing well.
    Best wishes,

    1. Hi Abby, thank you for taking the time to write me and thank you for asking our family is doing very well.
Yes, Nick was very young to have developed ascites but it unfortunately, was a side effect of his type of cancer and it truly sucked.Good luck with your nursing studies.

  3. What a fantastic idea Michela, creating this blog, being able to share every thought about Nick and your new life. A powerful story that should be told. I also get to learn more about Nick, as i was only a co-worker of yours. Told with great passion and humour that you always possessed. Seems you have found a wonderful man in John who will be great for you and Claudia and encouraging you to never forget Nick.

    1. Thank you, and for taking the time to comment. I have always been a lucky girl with love and I think Nick had a sneaky hand in finding John for Claudia and I, knowing he’d be a perfect match for us.
Thanks for your support Stevie, really appreciate you reading along!!
